The Blue Tongue Vineyards are located at 'Egansvale' in the prestigious McLaren Vale wine region just south of Adelaide. The Mediterranean climate in the region contributes to producing outstanding wines and wonderful produce in one of the most picturesque areas of Australia. The Vineyards are named for the many blue tongue lizards found in the area and backyards across Australia. Our famous Shiraz has been known to occasionally give the lucky consumer a blue tongue too.
Blue Tongue’s Silver Blue vineyard is north facing, several hundred metres above sea level and slopes down from the Willunga foothills at `Egansvale`. The vineyard overlooks luscious green & gold farmlands of McLaren Vale with spectacular views to the coast where the sun and sea dance SILVER blue. The soil is a combination of gravelly rock and slate combined with Biscay soils, the vines go deep into this mystic ancient earth producing small dark berries of exceptional quality & character – they make outstanding wine.
To make the Blue Tongue range we source grapes from our neighbour’s quality vineyards and from our mates down the track in other fine growing regions in South Australia.
