Winery Tasting Notes
The appearance is a lively, deep cherry red with a vivid ruby red rim.
The bouquet is full of ripe blackberry, mulberry and dark cherry fruit with a savoury background of roast coffee grinds, mocha and a hint of chocolate.
The opening palate is intense with ripe plums and berries then builds with liquorice, tobacco and leather overtones. The mid palate has plump juicy tannins and spicy oak with a background of dusty pepper and spice. Balanced and long on the finish, it has a velvety texture and chocolaty aftertaste.
This style of this wine is inspired by the Italian heritage of many of the McLaren Vale growers, its ideal with cured meats and spicy pork sausage. Pasta and tomato based sauces are a great match as well as wood oven pizza and barbequed lamb chops.
Enjoyable now this wine will give rewarding drinking through 2015 and will continue to gently mature for further 4 - 5 years.
