Tasting Notes

Colour

In the glass this wine is bright and enticing with a deep cherry red appearance and hints of garnet and mahogany.

Aroma

The bouquet is expressive with lively red fruits, cherry, raspberry and rhubarb. It has spice and floral hints of lavender and violets. The aroma swirls with cinnamon and nutmeg building to rich licorice and chocolate.

Palate

The palate continues with ripe stewed rhubarb leading to fleshy crushed olives, sage and oregano spice. The distinctive gamey character of spicy Italian sausage and smokehouse meats adds weight and texture to the finish which has fine dusty tannins and round clean acidity.

Visit any of the fabulous “Farmers Markets” that are springing up around the country and you’ll be spoilt for choice. From smoked meats, heirloom fruits and vegetables to spicy home-made sauces and pickles, the rustic country flavours are ideal with the spicy zest of traditional Grenache

Cellaring Potential

This wine is extremely limited but will offer excellent drinking over the next 10 – 15 years. With time the fruit will dry out and the spiciness will dominate but the typical Grenache back bone will remain making it a long term keeper.
