The Name
Hapuku (pronounced Har-pook-a) is a large, long lived wreckfish, commonly found in the deeper waters off the New Zealand coast. Also known as the New Zealand Groper, Hapuku is a traditional Maori delicacy and a highly prized fish appearing on the best restaurant menus.
Regularly weighing up to 80kg and living up to 60 years of age, this really is one of the Grandfather fish of the sea, just as Sauvignon Blanc is the Grandfather white grape to Marlborough wine.

Sweet pears, white peach, a hint of bananas, juicy fruit on the nose. Plenty of fresh fruit on the palate as well. Crisp and dry, a good acidity on the finish.Very good Savvy. YF(14/07/2011)
