Eight Songs Shiraz was born of our love of art and music and inspired by an operatic work, ‘Eight Songs for Mad King’, first performed in the Barossa in 1993.
The Barossa stands amongst the great wine regions of the world. From this region, Shiraz can express diversity in flavour, style and texture. The diverse terroir of our growers’ Barossa vineyards is reflected in the character of our wines. Soils, elevations and vine age vary from one vineyard to the next. The heart of Eight Songs lies in the old Shiraz vineyards spread across the landscape of the Barossa.
During the vintage, we walk these vineyards, which typically yield less than 2.5 tons per acre, tasting the fruit, seeking the concentrated flavours we need for this style of Shiraz. With Eight Songs we show an elegant and distinctly softer side to Barossa Shiraz. Fermented and matured in 100% new French oak hogsheads the palate shows dark plums,choc/ mocha notes with hints of vanillin undertones. The seamless integration of opulent fruit and velvety tannins creates an elegant expression of Barossa Shiraz at its sensuous best.
