Since the arrival of Traugott John in 1845 from Prussia, and planting one of South Australia's first vineyards, the John family has constantly strived for the best. In keeping with this philosophy whe ave selected a small block of Cabernet Sauvignon on our Estate to produce our best.
Dry grown at an altitude of 520 metres in Watervale over limestone and slate. This results in very low yielding fruit of great intensity.
Hand made and matured in new French and American Oak Barrells for 18 months, this wine has great intensity of colour, cassis, violets and blackberries, and complex fruit and oak on the palete, with a balanced tannin finish.
A very limited production of true Estate wine. Long term cellaring is recommended.
