Our 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon is estate grown and made.
The grapes are from three portions of our vineyard near the old well and windmill which supplied the property with water. Each has slightly different soils and ripening patterns and the fruit is a little different but makes its own contribution to the whole.
By Clare Valley standards, quite supple; medium-bodied, with fresh fruit flavours, and fine tannins.

The 2002/2003 growing season was warm and dry, after disappointing winter rains. Our vines survived a hard season well, having deep roots structures developed over many years. The crops were small and the flavours intense with a good balance of acidity and sugars.
Our vines are hand pruned in the traditional rod and spur format and the fruit is handpicked. The basket press generated fine, firm tannins. The wine was matured for a year in French oak hogsheads before being blended and lightly fines with fresh eggwhite. It was bottled in October 2004.
The wine will develop well for many years and will be released approximately two years after bottling. This is the second year we have used the screwcap on our red wines, and we do so in strong belief that they will enhance the freshness of the wine and minimise bottle variation.
This year we bottled around 500 cases. The grapes were grown and the wine made with all the care we could bestow. We hope you will enjoy our 2003 Windmill Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon.
