Expert Reviews

This wine is made for women, and it’s also made by one (Kate Wall, from South Australia’s Croser). Along with its rosé sister, Te Hana (“to shine” in Maori) will make a splash this festive season, so grab a glass and discover its citrusy notes, fine bead and long finish. Winery Tasting Notes

Notes Image

Grape Varietals

A blend of 80% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Noir.

Aroma

This effervescent cuvee of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir exhibits aromas of crisp apples, grapefruit and strawberries.

Palate

The aroma combines with delicate brioche characters and a naturally balanced acidity to produce this aromatic apertif style sparkling wine.

Winemaking Notes

The Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are harvested crushed and quickly chilled to ~4oC. The free run juice is gently pressed out and allowed to settle and clarify for 24-48 hours before racking. The juice is inoculated with carefully selected yeast to augment the flavours and aromas of each batch and allowed to ferment slowly at cool temperatures over several weeks to capture the crisp zesty flavours of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Each Chardonnay and Pinot Noir batch went through partial malolactic fermentation to give greater texture and balance the wines natural acidity with lees stirring to enhance the viscosity and richness of the base wines.

Winery Profile

The first thing you notice in New Zealand is our bright, clear, crisp light. Its colour saturates our landscape and intensifies the vivid flavours in our natural produce.

This same light has provided a beautiful new range of sparkling wines, created from some of the best of New Zealand for those who outshine the ordinary – Te Hana.

Each glass of Te Hana is made from grapes that ripen in pristine sunlight. This creates three vibrant sparkling wine varietals ideal for any occasion.

Our toast is “Te Hana” – Maori for “To shine”.
