Grape Varietals

40% Macabeo, 35% Verdejo, 20% Viura, 5% Sauvignon.

A pale colour with bright green highlights.

Aroma

A fresh, almost perky nose of white flowers, honeydew melon and peach.

Palate

The palate displays elegant stone and tropical fruit flavours but is primarily about texture. The rich mouth-filling flavours coat the mouth before crunchy lemony acidity on the finish.

Winemaking Note

The lush and windswept slopes of the Atlantic west coast have a different climate to the rest of Spain. The ocean provides cooling breezes and refreshing rainfall that result in elegant and delicate wines with soft acidity. Macabeo provides fruit weight and texture to the aromatic Sauvignon and the mineral acidity of the Verdejo. A cool fermentation and maturation on less is conducted in temperature controlled stainless steel to maximise vibrancy and fruit expression.

Winery Information

Picante Espana has been created by Javier Murua as an exuberant expression of Spanish culture and cuisine. Spicy by name and nature, Picante matches a refined and refreshing white wine with a rich and powerful red wine.

VINEYARDS

Picante Espana Verdejo is primarily sourced from Rueda, Spain’s leading region for the variety whilst the Tempranillo hails from Navarra in the countries North.

WINEMAKING PHILOSOPHY

Picante Espana is all about vivid and unrestrained fruit flavours. The fruit is fermented and then matured without the influence of oak to create a bright and aromatic wine that is packed with flavour and enjoyable in its youth.
