The palate features these intriguing counterpoints of sweet fruit and dried herbs; all supported by suede-like, fine tannins.

"Soft and smooth, with spicy, developed sweet fruit flavours."
See all Expert ReviewsThe palate features these intriguing counterpoints of sweet fruit and dried herbs; all supported by suede-like, fine tannins. These tannins would be prominent and perhaps too dry if not for the intense floral flavours which persist on the finish; it has great length.
Being so well constructed but beautifully balanced, it will reward cellaring until at least 2015.

"Malbec is the great grape variety of Argentina, long planted but still a rarity as a single-variety wine in Australia Still a youthful red-purple colour, despite its age, with a very appealing stewed fruit nose and a floral, earthy, herbal juiciness in the mouth, the long, full-flavoured finish balanced by good drying tannins. "
Illawarra Mercury, Kerry Skinner (Australia), 30 Jan 10

"One of the rare straight malbecs produced in Australia. Matured for 18 months in a combination of French and American oak, it’s bold and brooding with berry and plum fruit on the nose and palate, integrated spicy characters, fine tannins and a lingering finish."

"Straight malbec reds are rare in Australia, but this one shows how enjoyable they can be. The wine has bramble jelly and forest floor scents and spiced blackcurrant flavour zips onto the front palate. Satsuma plum, briar and savoury oak meld on the middle palate and the finish has lingering berry fruit and dusty tannins."
Sumptuous, Jeff Wright (Australia), 01 Nov 09

"... it is a great wine. It’s intensely coloured, deep red, and the nose opens with aromas of sweet redcurrants, followed by dried sage. On the palate the sweet red fruits and sage continue, with fine tannins balanced nicely by the persistence of the fruit to give it balance... "
