Wine Summary Image

The 2014 growing season was a testing but rewarding one in the Clare Valley. Winter rains were solid but a very warm summer saw day time temperatures often in excess of 35’C. A predicted rain event in February had wine producers on edge but it proved to be the vintage saviour with the soaking giving vines a much needed drink whilst resulting in little to no disease pressure. Early signs suggest wines of a similar quality and style to the lauded 2012 season.

Glenn Barry is maybe my 11th favourite winemaker. His stock is rising though, making sub sub regional Rieslings and orange wines to boot.

Fresh lime and rind, spice and a touch of flinty reduction, with a gentle lavender perfume. Palate hits it square on – precise, minerally and fine boned with just the right amount of flavour, and a pure flinty finish of outstanding proportions. Mineral water freshness and clarity here. Aroma

The wine displays vibrant aromas of citrus which are highlighted by light floral notes in a complex and compelling nose.

Palate

The palate is lively and juicy, displaying strong flavours of spice, freshly squeezed lime juice and grapefruit pith. Focussed and long the palate finishes with a textural clip of phenolic interest.
