Expert Reviews

Light, bright colour; the fragrant bouquet of spicy red fruits flows through seamlessly into the palate; it achieves length notwithstanding the low tannin profile, and is ready to enjoy here and now. Rating 94 - Drink by 2020 - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion (SEP/2013)

Winery Tasting Notes

Notes Image

Colour

Brick red with a bright hue

Aroma

Complex with indian spice and lifted perfume of strawberries and red berries.

Palate

A firm palate with fruit weight presence and generosity building in the glass. There is plenty of spice and red fruits, which reveal an even more complex array of flavours as the wine opens up - it should be exciting to see the development of this wine as it unravels its many layers over time. As always there is a firm presence of savoury tannins holding things nicely together.

Winery Profile

Stonier are pioneers of the Mornington Peninsula where they first planted Chardonnay in 1978 and Pinot Noir in 1982. Stonier achieve wines of the highest quality through continual improvements in viticulture and attention to detail in the winery. In each of the Stonier wines, Mike Symons looks for that extra degree of varietal definition and site expression. His aim is to continue to develop wines with a regional style, refined structure and seamless complexity.

"A spicy and crunchy Pinot Noir of red pepper. morello cherry and beetroot character with a crunchy acid line and biscuity French oak. Wait at least another Six months for fruit and oak to unite "Rating 92 - Tyson Stelzer (JAN/2014)
