Vintage: Margaret River has once again been favoured with ideal ripening conditions for the 2014 vintage. Over 1000mL of winter rain meant there was a solid level of sub-soil moisture for the vines. Mild summer conditions prevailed with cool nights and an almost constant breeze producing grapes which held their natural acid balance and had exceptional flavour development at lower sugar levels. Again, all fruit was disease free, with all varieties coming off at perfect combination of full flavour ripeness, tannin ripeness and balanced sugar levels.

Dark ruby red with an unmistakable cherry hue
Classic red and black berries, with mocha and marzipan notes from the oak.
2014 was another exceptional year for Cabernet in Margaret River. Intense blackberries and perfumed violets mingle with savoury spices. The French oak adds beautiful vanilla, cedar and mocha flavours. The tannins are powerful, but velvety soft and combined with the acid, builds to the back of the palate resulting in a long and lingering finish with a beautiful line. Whilst a remarkable wine now, with careful cellar maturation for 15 years or more, this limited release Prendiville Cabernet Sauvignon will certainly reward the patient. (A harmless deposit may form in the bottle during cellar maturation and decanting is recommended prior to serving).

Sandalford Wines was established in 1840 and is today privately owned by the Prendiville family.
In the early 1970’s Sandalford was one of the pioneers in establishing vineyards in the Margaret River planting 96 hectares in the sub region of Wilyabrup. It is this old, dry grown vineyard that is the source of the Prendiville Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon and the Estate Reserve range of wines. These wines under the winemaking expertise of Paul Boulden are superb examples of Margaret River at its best, winning praise from notable wine writers and a series of trophies and gold medals at both national and international wine shows.
A new addition to the Sandalford portfolio is the Margaret River Range of wines positioned at the “midprice point” of today’s premium market. It is the fastest growing segment of the wine market and with Sandalford’s world class resources in Margaret River, this range has been developed to tap into this consumer trend. The wines are sourced from a combination of the Sandalford Estate and other premium vineyards in the Margaret River with wine styles reflecting current consumer tastes for vibrant, up front varietal flavours.
