Winery Tasting Notes

Colour

Brilliant pale green.

Aroma

Enticing yet restrained aromas of tropical fruit, crushed nettles and wet slate. Typically subtle style as with previous versions of this blend.

Palate

More of the same on the palate with the soft tropical fruit flavours being balanced nicely by the crisp acidity while delivering a clean, dry and persistent finish.

Food Matching

Good to have with all sorts of seafood and goes well with some spicier dishes as well.

Winery Profile

Pikes Vintners is an iconic family owned and operated winery set amongst the hills and valleys of South Australia's beautiful Clare Valley.

Established in 1984 the winery and vineyards are situated in the historic and picturesque Polish Hill River sub region on the eastern side of the Clare Valley. The climate in this area is cooler and the soils are quite different compared to the rest of the region, imparting distinctive flavours and aromas to the wines.

Pikes is best known for its world class Riesling, but is becoming increasingly recognized for high quality, elegant red wines and their ever popular Sauvignon Blanc Semillon blend. Pikes have also been a leader in planting new and alternative varieties to the district including Sangiovese, Pinot Grigio and Viognier. Pikes also produces Pikes Oakbank- a sparkling Pilsener style beer.

The distinctive English Pike fish appears on all Pikes products.
