Petaluma Riesling is one of Australia's finest examples of this noble variety. Pale straw in colour the palate exhibits lemon and grapefuit flavours matched by some fresh and racy acidity. Sourced from the home of great Australian Riesling, this trademark Clare Valley aromatic white is wonderful when opened upon release and like all great Rieslings, will develop brilliant toasty characters over a 10 year period in the bottle.

Winery Tasting Notes

Colour

Light, pale straw in colour.

Aroma

Lovely bright floral aromas of lemon blossom and passionfruit are backed up on the palate by pristine, intense lemon/ limes, with some crunchy apple thrown in.

Palate

Slatey minerality, a hallmark of the Hanlin Hill Vineyard for three decades, combined with high natural acidity to produce a wine that is very drinkable in its youth, while offering all the qualities of a great, long lived Clare Valley Riesling.

Winery Profile

Established in 1976, Petaluma's vision is to make world class wines from the classic European varieties by choosing the best region for each variety and acquiring or planting the best vineyard in that region.

Winemaker Andrew Hardy

Andrew began with Petaluma in 1982, working and studying his wayup through the ranks as cellar hand, trainee winemaker and finally leadwinemaker. Successfully interweaving practical, ‘in the vineyard’ workwith university studies, Andrew completed his Bachelor of Appl. Sci(Wine Science) at University of Adelaide in 1990. Nominated in August1999 as a finalist in AGT Wine Magazine's Winemaker of the Year award, Andrew is highly respected for his effortless winemaking style,restrained hand in the winery and engaging manner.
