89 Points - Campbell Mattinson - The WineFront - Posted 30 Mar 2017

It’s always been a bit of a strange brand but the value has usually seemed reasonable.

There’s a volume of berried flavour here but it’s not going to win any bonus points for charm or deliciousness. Volume is its thing. The fruit runs sweet and loose, an edge of chicory/toast only contributing to the impression of ‘body’. Saltbush, dried herbs and dry spice notes drift throughout without ever really entering the main frame. Think rich, think (very) ripe.

Winery Tasting Notes

Aroma & Palate

The result is an exceptional, deep purple & vivid in colour with bright hues - with perfumed, lifted berries and spice on the nose, intense black fruits, dark chocolate and mocha notes across the mid palate; wonderfully rich, layered and textural; this wine literally coats the mouth - and finishes with soft, long and silky tannins and toasty oak nuances.

Food Match

A perfect accompaniment to char-grilled meats, pork & fennel sausages and American style BBQ’s.

Cellar

The 2015 Snake Charmer Shiraz can be enjoyed in its youth and can be cellared for up to 8 years
