Winery Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep rosewood red with a vivid violet hue

Aroma

A little shy and subdued but coaxed by decanting rewards with heady aromas of brooding dark berries, plum, briar ,cedary spice and an elemental tarry note.

Palate

A broodingly full, hedonistic palate which builds in intensity throughout commencing with blood plum and mulberry fruit, followed by a horde of dark chocolate coated cherry all adding richness and filling every curve of the palate and coalescing consummately with

secondary characters of classic Barossa oor earthiness, mocha, spice and a meaty barrel fermented complexity. Immensely generous, with verdant power, the palate culminates in a lingering finish of lithe \tannins and a warming if not congenial touch of white pepper.

Food Matching

Well suited to a premium cut of rare dry aged beef otherwise a treat with some homely braised veal shanks and finish with a good vintage cheddar.

SHELLEY TORRESAN - WINEMAKER

Shelley Torresan grew up in the beautiful Adelaide Hills, surrounded by regional produce and it was only a matter of time before she developed a love of wine. She started her winemaking career at Adelaide University and completed her Bachelor of Agricultural Science in 1999. Shelley has spent time in Frances’ Northern Rhone Valley and Sonoma Country, California making wine. However, South Australia is where her heart is and so she has made her home in McLaren Vale at the Yangarra Estate winery where she makes the RockBare wines.

Her focus is to produce bright-fruited wines that are distinctive to the region and variety. As a result, the wines are approachable, young, fresh and vibrant, and fit our lifestyle of food, wine and entertaining.
