Sourced from within our own estate grown vineyards using selected parcels, gives us the balance and structure we are striving for. Crushed and left to ferment on skins for 15 to 20 days allows us to extract maximum flavour, tannins and structure. Pressed and transferred to barrel to finish secondary fermentation and held in oak for 12 months, allows the wines to develop complexity while retaining rich fruit varietal characters.

Our first release of our Cabernet Malbec blend under the London Calling label, hits the mark with plump dark fruits, violets, leafy notes and liquorice. The juicy and savoury aromas are created to entice and excite giving an indication of the plush and rich flavours that await.

Palate

This wine displays the complimentary synergy that works with blending these two varieties. Cabernet brings structure with big tannins and classic varietal aspects of blackcurrant, cassis, liquorice and herbal notes. Malbec provides juicy plump plum and a mid-palate richness that entwines and harnesses the structure given by Cabernet. Together they produce a wine with rounded mouthfeel and continues to delight the senses.

Winery Profile

Claymore Wines, situated in the beautiful Clare Valley in South Australia, began in 1997 with small volumes of Grenache and Riesling, and has now grown to almost 15,000 cases per year across a highly awarded range of wines.

We draw fruit from our five premium estate owned vineyards at Penwortham (the backbone of our red wine production) and Watervale (home to our Joshua Tree vineyard). These sites have been specifically chosen for their suitability for our staple varieties – Shiraz, Riesling, Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Our labelling is inspired by some of the great music of modern time - from rock, punk and folk. Our wines are about bringing together great passions to create the ultimate experience. We pride ourselves on meticulous winemaking using only the best fruit, but when it comes to enjoying a glass we don't take ourselves too seriously!
