Wine Summary Image

The Barossa Valley is the only Australian wine region that can produce different Shiraz styles from the numerous sub-regions each with distinctive characteristics. The 'Terroirs of the Barrosa' are an embodiment of the environment, the valley, the soil and the climate. The richest and ripest of the terroirs, this wine reflects the old vines and fertile red soils of vineyards in Greenock.

Expert Reviews

The grapes come from the 40-year-old Mattschoss Vineyard, destemmed but not crushed, then spending 7 days in open fermenters; 20 months in French and American oak; 500 dozen made. While Greenock has a reputation for rich wines, this has considerable fragrance and elegance, its flavours of juicy red fruits, the tannins very fine, the oak balanced. James Halliday, Rating 95, 25th July 2014
