Winery Tasting Notes

Colour

The 2010 Doc Adams McLaren Vale Shiraz colour is deep red brick bordering on black.

Aroma

At first it emits a chocolate and mocha aroma developing into a Christmas cake like waft.

Palate

A rich dry red style with sweet grape and fruit flavours. Liquorice with a Christmas cake undertone. There is intensity on the palate with a slight dusty wave developing. This outlines the use of new and old French oak.

Cellaring

Over the next seven to ten years

Bright raspberry fruits and spice with leather and black concentration. Nice blackcurrant fruit richness, nicely balanced and seamless, lovely, grainy texture, very juicy and beautifully balanced. Serious expression of Shiraz. Drink 2014–2025 Alc 14.5% Highly Recommended (90+ points) Decanter Magazine (APR/2014)

Medium to deep red/purple colour. Grass, chaff and oak aromas, cherry and plum too and a hint of pepper. Fairly full-bodied with abundant drying tannins, and typical 2010 star anise character comes through on both nose and palate. An unusal wine but its bright and lively and has some charm.Rating 89 Huon Hooke
