Medium red-purple, good for age; the bouquet is complex, starting to develop earthy, spicy, cedary/cigar box secondary aromas; I have tasted this wine several times over the years, and I think it is now close to its best, especially if matched with a decent-sized piece of Wagyu steak.

As a leading personality in the emerging Australian wine industry, Geoff also established a high profile internationally, most recently as consulting winemaker in Italy making wines for the UK market and as a respected judge at Australian and International wine shows.

Geoff Merrill's wines have been successful at Australian and International wine shows, including the coveted Jimmy Watson Trophy at the 2005 Melbourne wine show. Since 1980 Geoff Merrill Wines have won 29 Trophies, 143 Gold , 373 Silver and 1181 Bronze medals.
