What is an evaporative cooler and how does it work?Evaporative air cooling mimics the naturally cooling effects of a breeze. An evaporative cooler (such as a fan or blower) draws in hot and dry air from outside and passes it through a wet filter. As this air moves through the filter, the stored water evaporates - cooling and humidifying the air. The newly-cool air is then blown throughout the room. An evaporative cooler works best when its location creates a "flow through" effect, i.e. near an open window or door.
