Auchentoshan is a classic Lowlander whisky, with a very distinctive and notable deviation from the traditional style.
In the same manner as Irish Whiskeys, Auchentoshan 10 Year Old is triple-distilled, as opposed to the usual limit of twice for Scotch Whiskies. This gifts Auchentoshan with notable extra refinement and smoothness, according the dram status as a perfect introduction to the delights of single malt whisky.
Auchentoshan is one of only three remaining Lowland distilleries in Scotland, together with Bladnoch and Glenkinchie.
Founded in 1800 and located just North of Glasgow, from the foot of the Kilpatrick Hills overlooking the River Clyde the distillery produces its sweet, accessible 10 Year Old malt.
While the distillery itself is in the Highlands, its water is from Cochna Loch in the Lowlands, conferring the Auchentoshan classification as a delightful and highly sought after Lowland whisky.
