Wine Summary Image

In 2011 Pizzini quietly released a new range of wines under the Lana label.

These wines are made by Joel Pizzini. Joel is using some old winemaking techniques

to make these wines so that some of them show more funky, earthy and savoury notes to the wines in the Pizzini range. These wines are made to be enjoyed with food, especially dishes with Italian flavours.

We named this range after a special town in northern Italy called Lana. Lana is located in the Trentino-Alto Adige region and is situated between the towns of Bolzano and Merano.

Prior to moving to Australia to forge a different future for their young family, Roberto and Rosetta Pizzini had settled in the northern Italian town of Lana. After marrying, Roberto found a job as a fitter and turner in a factory there, while Rosetta became a mother. Her third son Alfredo was born whilst they lived in Lana.

Lana was, and still is thought of as their Italian home.

It's light in colour, but don't be dissuaded. This is a beautiful, flowing red wine, it's tannic heart overwhelmed by fresh cherry-berry flavours. Colour

Semi translucent dark red colour with a dark crimson red hue

Aroma

The nose displays aromas of raspberries tinged with violets followed by some plum and faint spice notes

Palate

Light to medium weight with a soft fruity mid palate that includes flavours of red and Morello cherries over some chewy leather characters and spice. Bright finish with fine grained tannins and an aftertaste of juicy red cherries, Morello cherries, leather infusions and spice
