Expert Reviews

The 2012 The Violinist Verdelho has ripe pear, white peach and honeydew aromas with some coriander seed and white pepper hints. Big, ripe, rich and expressive, it has lots of tropical fruit and poached pear flavors with just enough refreshing acid to balance, finishing long. Drink it now to 2015.

Botrytis wiped out Mollydooker’s Adelaide Hills and Langhorne Creek vineyards in 2011 yet the top vineyards in McLaren Vale were largely unaffected. The vintage yielded moderate heat, not nearly as hot as the previous vintages, and although the Scooter Merlot could not be made in 2011, other wines in the Mollydooker did not miss a beat. Rating 88 - Drink to 2015, Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, eRobertParker.com (DEC/2012)

Winery Tasting Notes

Notes Image

This wine is fantastic. It was exciting to taste it through all the winemaking stages, because it always kept the fresh vibrant fruit that was there the night we picked the grapes. I see tropical fruit bowl, citrus, pear and a creamy texture.

For me, it’s the creamy texture that makes this wine so enjoyable, just like fruit salad and ice cream. At 71% Fruit Weight, it is really standing out as one of the best Violinists of all time. Andrew
