Wine Summary Image

Our inaugural release of Mojo Chardonnay has the appropriate hallmarks to nestle comfortably into the Mojo range with a lively palate and a style that is very much approachable and drink now. The fruit was sourced from the higher altitudes and further reaches of McLaren Vale in order to ensure consistent full flavour as well as mouth watering, crisp acidity.

Our usual cautious approach was taken in monitoring the vineyards, waiting until those endearing tropical flavours appeared in the fruit prior to harvesting. The juice was inoculated with yeast that enhances the aromatics of the wine and ferments were run very cool to retain valuable volatiles. Four months of lees stirring was undertaken post fermentation in order to compliment the mid palate texture and also to give a slightly nutty complexity. In short it will ‘get your Mojo working!’

Pungent tropical and melon fruit with traces of straw and toasted almond.

Palate

Vibrant, full fruit drenches the palate in the form of intense pineapple, passionfruit along with more exotic custard apple and a hint of apricot. The mid palate is textural and mouth filling with a host of creamy, mealy complexity derived from lees stirring. The balanced, flinty acidity compliments the rich fruit and provides support throughout the palate presenting a crisp, clean lime finish.

Food Matching

Serve lightly chilled with pan-fried flathead or baked snapper otherwise goes a treat with steamed Chinese chicken dumplings.

SHELLEY TORRESAN - WINEMAKER

Shelley Torresan grew up in the beautiful Adelaide Hills, surrounded by regional produce and it was only a matter of time before she developed a love of wine. She started her winemaking career at Adelaide University and completed her Bachelor of Agricultural Science in 1999. Shelley has spent time in Frances’ Northern Rhone Valley and Sonoma Country, California making wine. However, South Australia is where her heart is and so she has made her home in McLaren Vale at the Yangarra Estate winery where she makes the RockBare wines.

Her focus is to produce bright-fruited wines that are distinctive to the region and variety. As a result, the wines are approachable, young, fresh and vibrant, and fit our lifestyle of food, wine and entertaining.
