Colour

Medium depth with bright vibrant reds.

Aroma

The aroma is of fresh red berries with a hint of spice, while showing the excellent cool climate berries. The subtle smoky notes from the oak give this Shiraz a fresh complexity.

Palate

The palate is soft and round with a very smoky oak flavour to complete this fresh medium bodied Coonawarra Shiraz. The flavours are a blend of oak, red current and a hint of spice. This wine has very soft tannins which gives a richness and length to the wine. A very drinkable wine. A wine that will age well, but has enough softness to be enjoyed on release.

Winery Profile

Owner Kym Tolley describes himself as a fifth-generation winemaker,the family tree involving both the Penfolds and the Tolleys. He worked 17 years in the industry before establishing Penley Estate and has made every post a winner since, producing a succession of rich, complex, full-bodied red wines and stylish Chardonnays. These are made from precious estate plantings. A welcome return to form with the ’08 and ’09 reds.
