The RockBare Chardonnay has enjoyed some great success in recent times. The consistency of the fruit has been amazing with full credit to RockBare diligent grower. Sourced from the higher climbs of McLaren Vale this Chardonnay ripens very late in comparison to the rest of the region but is brimming with full flavour as well as mouth watering, crisp acidity.

Winery Tasting Notes

Colour

Pale green in colour.

Aroma

Lifted aroma of nectarine, fragrant lemon myrtle and verbena spiked with calming trace of oatmeal and subtle spice.

Palate

Rich and fleshy upfront palate of peach, fig and honeysuckle complimented by hints of exotic mangosteen and rambutan which seamlessly fuse with a refreshing mid palate lemon curd creaminess. Tempting, subtle secondary threads of hazelnut and almond butter are further enhanced by a mealy complexity from lees stirring. The sherbert like acidity is vibrant throughout providing cleansing support and extending into a pleasantly lingering, zesty tangerine finish.

Food Matching

Well suited to roast free range chicken with plenty of herb butter stuffed under the skin to baste whilst cooking also perfect to serve with any crustaceans.

SHELLEY TORRESAN - WINEMAKER

Shelley Torresan grew up in the beautiful Adelaide Hills, surrounded by regional produce and it was only a matter of time before she developed a love of wine. She started her winemaking career at Adelaide University and completed her Bachelor of Agricultural Science in 1999. Shelley has spent time in Frances’ Northern Rhone Valley and Sonoma Country, California making wine. However, South Australia is where her heart is and so she has made her home in McLaren Vale at the Yangarra Estate winery where she makes the RockBare wines.

Her focus is to produce bright-fruited wines that are distinctive to the region and variety. As a result, the wines are approachable, young, fresh and vibrant, and fit our lifestyle of food, wine and entertaining.
