Wine Summary Image

Ed Schild purchased the Tweedies Gully vineyard in 1977, noting that with its westerly aspect, high altitude and sandy loam soils, the vineyard was a perfect fit for premium Riesling production.

Taking advantage of the cooling afternoon gully winds, particularly in the Summer, the vineyard whilst located on the Barossa Valley side of the line shows a number of characters more akin to its close neighbour, Eden valley.

A single vineyard expression of this variety and now such an important part of the Schild stable, we can’t imagine life before we made Riesling from this unique patch of Barossa dirt.

Winery Tasting Notes

Colour

Pale straw with green tinges

Aroma

Instant aromas of powder-puff lemon sherbet are supported by more subtle hints of summer orange blossom, elderflower and a an unusual touch of celery leaf spice.

Palate

Flavours of soft, juicy, ripe lemon and limes arrive first on the front and mid palates before secondary hints of spice and talc show themselves and lead into a clean mineral chalk finish.
