Intense Pinot Noir with dark cherry,roasted chestnut, cassis and new leather flavours. The wine is long and powerful with peppery tannins giving it a grainy texture. Good cellaring potential. Rating 90 - Bob Cambpbell MW (AUG/2010)

Winery Tasting Notes

The 2007 Rachel Pinot Noir has a slight earthiness on the nose, a touch of wild hedgerow, along with damson, Doris plum, cassis and violets. Very pretty and engaging. The palate is medium-bodied, good structure with some very fine tannins, dark plum, bilberry and boysenberry towards the almost conservative finish that beckons a year or two cellaring. Very fine.

Michael Seresin's estate in Marlborough continues to go from strength to strength, exploring new techniques to apply biodynamic principles that are zealously pursued. This year, they have some intriguing micro-production Pinot Noirs that reach new heights of quality, if alas not quantity.
