Chardonnay

A delicate white wine that is extremely popular, Chardonnay thrives in cool climate sites all over the world.

Australian Chardonnay is renowned for its depth and complexity. It's grown in regions all across the country with each area imparting a different flavour profile. The cool climates of the Yarra Valley, Coonawarra, Hunter Valley and Margaret River produce Chardonnay that is fruity and rich while Chardonnay from the warmer inland regions of the Central Ranges, Orange and Cowra exhibit tropical fruit flavours and elements of butter, sweet cream and vanilla.

As the style of Chardonnay is so varied it can be served with many different food types. It generally suits roasted white meats such as chicken and turkey as well as dishes that contain a heavy cream or butter component. The oak influenced wines suit Asian cuisine and smoked fish. Chardonnay can also match quite well with Gruyere, Provolone and Brie cheeses.
