Sauvignon Blanc is one of the easiest wines to recognise due to its sharp, distinctive and sometimes aggressive smell. Common flavours and aromas include lemongrass, gooseberry, grass, capsicum, lime, melon, grapefruit, vanilla and wood. Sauvignon Blanc has a naturally high level of acidity and is often characterised as tangy, tart, zesty and racy. As one of the most versatile white wine varieties, Sauvignon Blanc can accompany a great range of food types. It can be paired with tomato and garlic based dishes, Italian flavours, Thai food, fragrant salads like Greek, Caesar and Garden, sushi, smoked cheeses and poultry.
