Winery Tasting Notes

Colour - In the glass this wine is bright and enticing with a brilliant cherry red appearance with some dark burgundy hues indicating maturity.

Aroma - The bouquet is complex and intense. It opens with subtle floral hints of rose petal and violets then builds with earthy spices and cedar wood to dark plums, cherries and blackberry.

Palate - The palate is ripe round and luxurious with red cherries, toffee apple and dark plums. The earthy rustic charm of old bush vine Grenache dominates the flavour while Shiraz and Mourvedre add a chocolate richness and spicy lift. On the mid palate it reveals anise, violets and smoked meats ahead of a warm, dry finish. Cedary oak is obvious but well integrated with fruit, acid and tannins. There is a noticeable alcohol lift that enhances the smooth richness on the back palate.

Food Matching - This wine is ideal with the rustic country dishes of Spain, Provence and Italy. It also has the body and spicy characteristics to handle Malaysian, Thai and Indian cuisine, try it with beef rendang or red Thai curry.

Cellaring Potential - This wine has been blended to provide optimum drinking over the next 4 – 5 years but will continue to cellar for many years for those who enjoy the complexity of secondary bottle aged characteristics.
