The Hay Valley is just west of Mt Barker in the heart of the Great Southern wine growing district of Western Australia. From post war farming and apple growing, the region is now a well-established area for viticulture with the first vines planted here in the late 1960’s. With its mature vineyards, moderate yields and Mediterranean climate, many grape varieties do well, producing crisp dry whites with vibrant, fresh fruit flavours and well balanced reds with great colour, flavour and structure.

Colour - Dark plummy red with good depth of colour.
Aroma - Beautifully perfumed with a good intensity of spicy plum fruit aromas, complexed with hints of sweet rhubarb and light peppery, smoky characters.
Palate - Medium bodied with gentle, sweet cherry and spicy plum fruit flavours together with some dusty, more savoury characters. These flavours are balanced by the slightly chalky, lightly drying tannins. An easy drinking dry red that is approachable now and would be a good match with many foods.
