Winemaking - Selected batches of Shiraz fruit were crushed and co-fermented with Viognier. Following fermentation on skins for five to seven days, the ferments were membrane pressed and matured in
French oak before blending and bottling. The resulting wine has excellent depth of colour, richness and complexity.
Vintage - A mild spring followed by a classic warm and dry summer lead to outstanding quality across all varieties in Vintage 2018. These mild and dry conditions, whilst shaping exceptional fruit, saw a slight reduction in volume crushed than in previous years. Our vineyard and winemaking teams have worked passionately throughout Vintage 2018 to craft amazing wines with great colour, and flavour intensity that will enrich life’s everyday moments.

After nearly three decades of growing grapes for some of Australia’s best known wine brands, the Zilzie winery was built in 1999 with the first vintage released under the Zilzie name in 2000.
The increasingly popular and distinctive Selection 23 range was introduced in 2004, while 2008 saw the re-release of our Bulloak range.
2009 has seen the culmination of many years dedication to selective vineyard sourcing deliver the “REGIONAL COLLECTION” of Zilzie wines. We’ve combed Australia’s best known wine regions, specifically targeting the varieties they excel at, for exceptional grape parcels to produce these wines.
We’ve come a long way in 10 years, with our winery tripling in capacity, and our range growing from the humble beginnings of four varieties, to now include consumer favourites such as Pinot Grigio, Moscato and Rosé.
It’s not all about size, Zilzie is also recognised for its exceptional quality, having won 27 trophies in its short history and is the only winery from our region rated 4.5 stars by James Halliday in his 2009 Wine Companion.
