Saltram Wine is a Barossa Valley wine estate with over a century of history. It has a large portfolio of wines that focuses on the region's popular red varieties, especially Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. Saltram also makes wines from Malbec, Petit Verdot, Barbera, Tempranillo and Sangiovese, while the limited white wine production revolves mostly around Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling. Very good purple-red; the moderately intense red berry/cherry fruit of the bouquet is supported by subtle vanilla oak. Attractively sweet mid-palate fruit is followed by faintly dusty/dry tannins, but I fancy there is enough fruit there to provide time for those tannins to settle down. - James Halliday

Created from exceptional fruit from South Australia’s Langhorne Creek region, Metala is a stalwart of the Australian wine industry.
Winning the first ever Jimmy Watson Trophy in 1962, Metala has stood the test of time with its timeless label and exceptional, consistent quality with each vintage.
Consisting of two wines, the Metala ‘White Label” Shiraz Cabernet and Metala “Black Label” Original Plantings Shiraz are created by Winemaker Shavaughn Wells.
The White Label Metala has an excellent reputation for its cellaring potential – particularly considering its value and easy accessibility. The Black Label is an “old-school” classic Shiraz with rich fruit, supportive oak and the ability to age gracefully for many years.
The history of the Metala vineyard dates back to 1891 when founder George Formby planted 21 rows of Shiraz and 14 rows of Cabernet Sauvignon on his property on the banks of the Bremer River. Most of those original vines along with a further five acres of Shiraz planted in 1894, still bear fruit with the Shiraz forming the backbone of the extraordinary “Black Label” Metala Original Plantings. .
