“La Bossa” was the affectionate nickname bestowed on Giuseppina by her husband and founder Vittorio De Bortoli. Proud, authentic, salt of the earth wines, just like the name.

Vineyard

Low yielding, young vineyards and a splash of Riesling to add some fruit lift to the Grigio.

Season

Another dry winter followed by late spring rains enabled vines to produce a healthy crop of fruit. A hot summer brought Vintage on in a hurry kicking off on 21st of January. With crops slightly below average and no disease quality is above average.

Tasting Note

Gentle jasmine aromas with an hint of tropical notes, citrus zest, generous and long palate.

Medium bodied, easy drinking.

Winemaking

To secure the desired colour tone the juice is hyper-oxidized prior to alcoholic fermentation. Part of it is fermented in 14 year old French barrels whereas the rest is inoculated with a selected strain of yeast in controlled temperature stainless steel tanks. The wine is then kept on fine lees for 3 months to help intensify the flavours and add texture to the palate.
