Wine Summary Image

Crafted using a minimal intervention approach, Annie's Lane Cabernet Merlot is a delightful blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes obtained from fertile vineyards in the Clare Valley wine region. This dry wine exudes a dark red colour as it is poured into glasses. The attractive bouquet exhibits lifted aromas of blackcurrants, dried plums, spearmint and herbs. These fragrances effortlessly make way for a rich and vibrant palate brimming with flavours of ripe brambly fruits and redcurrants, combined with subtle oak nuances. This generous palate is balanced by savoury tannins, ending the wine in a satisfying finish. Cellar this medium bodied wine for a medium to long term, for a more rewarding experience. Serve it with oregano and garlic marinated chargrilled lamb chops, or roasted spatchcock chicken and spring vegetables, to lift your meal.

Winery Profile

The renowned Clare Valley is the home of Annie's Lane.

Annie's Lane wines were launched in 1996, named after a real place and a real person.

Anne's Lane was so-named at the turn of the 20th century when Annie Wayman's horse and cart got bogged along the boundary of a Clare Valley vineyard, as she delivered lunch and warm drinks to pruners in the vineyard. So, it seemed only reasonable that Annie, a stalwart of Clare Valley folklore, should be remembered for her inimitable services to the vineyard workers of the region.

The home of Annie's Lane is the heritage listed Quelltaler winery at the heart of Watervale, in the Clare Valley's south. Quelltaler is the regions oldest and most important wineries, dating back to 1863.

Annie's Lane is now one of the finest wineries in Australia's renowned Clare Valley and is known for crafting a range of reputable wines from some of the oldest vines in the region.

The Annie's Lane wines rely on regional and varietal expression; encompassing a diversity of wines from elegant fresh white to rich, fruit-flavoured reds. Annie's Lane features a core Clare Valley range of wines as well as a limited release range of ultra-premium wines released under the Copper Trail label.

The most successful of all the wines has been the super-premium Copper Trail Shiraz - awarded Visy's Great Australian Shiraz Challenge and overall category winner for best Shiraz in Winestate Magazine's World's Greatest Shiraz Challenge for the Copper Trail Shiraz 2005.
