• Originally sampled in 2012, whisky Cask No. 970331 was put aside for an additional 7 years resulting in this very special 20-year-old release from Smith’s Angaston, the final vatting of this historic 1997 distillation. Made using Franklin barley from Tasmania, malted at Cooper’s Brewery in Adelaide and then distilled at Yalumba in the Hills above Angaston, Barossa, South Australia, we’ve secured only a handful of bottles that will no doubt end up a collector’s item.
• Light golden amber in colour this emanates spice, gingerbread and dark orange chocolates. This is a real winter warmer with Christmas cake, brandy snap, honey and spices developing over time in the glass. Shows a tang of grapefruit and poached pear with liquorice and sweet maltiness. Delivers a crisp attack of spirit, narrow and long with a dry honeyed finish. Very elegant.
