Located in the Broke Fordwich region in the picturesque Hunter Valley, surrounded by the Brokenback Ranges and iconic Yellow Rock is Parsons Creek Farm and home of Bilgavia Estate Wines. A family run vineyard, thoroughbred stud and working farm, Bilagavia is comprised of 19 hectares of Shiraz, Verdelho, Chardonnay and Semillon. In 2012 plantings of Tempranillo, Fiano, Merlot and Pinot Noir were also added to the vineyard.

The name Bilgavia is taken from the original property on which vineyard plantings can be dated back to 1820. In subsequent years, two additional adjoining properties were merged to create the stunning Parsons Creek Farm, with Bilgavia being kept as the name of the wines in honour of its heritage.

The family’s vision for the wines was to always make them true to style and place, but most of all approachable and uncomplicated. Wines they like to sit down with on a Sunday lunch around the table at the farm, to be enjoyed and not over thought. Wines to match with food without fear of being lost or talking over the flavours. Wines for every family, every day!

Winery Tasting Notes

Dark and brooding this wine leads with a delicious charcuterie and smoked meats, coupled with spice and plum. The palate is rich and ripe, a kaleidoscope of savoury tannin, blood plum and cherries. Great depth and length. A wine to stand up to any great meat dish and not be lost in the background.

Parsons Creek Farm is home to the Bilgavia Estate Vineyard and was created following the purchase of three separate dairy farms adjoining each other in 1999.

Over the ensuing 12 years these three highly productive and well located farms have been developed into a totally integrated thoroughbred horse stud, cattle farm and commercial vineyard, completed in 2007. Bilgavia was the name of one of the original three properties and was kept as the name for the wine label for its historical value.  

Grapes were grown on the property as far back as the 1820’s.
