Winery Tasting Notes

Colour

Pretty, pale pink

Aroma

Fresh, bright and lively aromatics of cherry blossom, with red currant and strawberry notes giving the wine a delicate, fresh nose.

Palate

While the nose shows light, almost ‘sweet’ fruit aromatics, the palate is balanced and deceptively dry and crisp. Juicy strawberries shine up front with an almost zesty acid on the finish. A hint of spice and crushed dry herbs completes the picture. A medium weight Rose with forward fruit flavours on the palate.

Food Match

This is a big, dry, berried wine that pairs beautifully with a plate of prosciutto and ripe summer tomatoes. It’s also rich enough to balance a quiche with gruyere and bacon.

Winery Profile

Claymore Wines, situated in the beautiful Clare Valley in South Australia, began in 1997 with small volumes of Grenache and Riesling, and has now grown to almost 15,000 cases per year across a highly awarded range of wines.

We draw fruit from our five premium estate owned vineyards at Penwortham (the backbone of our red wine production) and Watervale (home to our Joshua Tree vineyard). These sites have been specifically chosen for their suitability for our staple varieties – Shiraz, Riesling, Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Our labelling is inspired by some of the great music of modern time - from rock, punk and folk. Our wines are about bringing together great passions to create the ultimate experience. We pride ourselves on meticulous winemaking using only the best fruit, but when it comes to enjoying a glass we don't take ourselves too seriously!
