Wine Summary Image

Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from our vineyards in the southern part of the region in order to capture strong varietal intensity and high natural acidity. Semillon is more broadly sourced from the south and center to capture the full spectrum of fruit flavours on offer.

Each individual vineyard block that contributes to the Miamup Sauvignon Blanc Semillon is vinified separately. Most batches are cool fermented in stainless steel to maximize varietal character and fruit flavour. Special batches are hand-picked, whole fruit pressed and fermented in oak to add complexity and texture.

Winery Tasting Notes

Classic fruit and spice aromas of gently poached citrus, blackcurrant, custard apple, gooseberry, quince, vanilla pod and lemon verbena give a familiar entree to this fresh and vibrant wine. The palate’s rich core of these many fruits and spices is enriched with a lemon curd creaminess that textures the palate. A lively, yet soft lime zest and chalk like acidity gives a bright, clean finish.

History

Howard Park Wines was established in 1986 and was one of the original pioneers of the Great Southern region. The founding owner of Howard Park, John Wade ventured west to Western Australia's South West with one belief: "I don't know any other region where you can produce both Riesling and Cabernet Sauvignon as premium wines". This founding belief began the journey of Howard Park.

Now over 20 years on, Howard Park remains a family owned winery under the guidance of Jeff and Amy Burch. With a philosophy to produce wines of distinct regional character with an uncompromising commitment to quality Howard Park has forged an international reputation for their wines and an expanded range including single vineyard and multi regional wines from Margaret River and the Great Southern.

Our Philosophy

This founding two region philosophy aligns with Howard Park's wine making philosophy which adopts an ethos for integrating the old with the new. Howard Park embraces modern technology whilst employing traditional wine making techniques and produces internationally recognised wines of the highest quality. As a result our Riesling, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz wines are only ever produced in very small quantities, but are noted for their rare balance of elegance and power with a proven history of ageing with increased complexity and interest.
