Wine Summary Image

Redbank Sunday Morning Pinot Gris is handpicked, chilled and gently wholebunch pressed to retain aromatics,

with cool fermentation retaining the subtle, delicate aromas and textures of Pinot Gris. The wine is bottled soon

after vintage to retain and maximise the delicate varietal aromas.

Vineyards

Fruit for this wine is sourced from two special vineyard sites in King Valley. The first of these is the Cavedon’s

Whitfield Farm, providing fullness of flavour, structure and a distinct minerality. The second is 860m above

sea level, the Stella Matutina vineyard of David Burder - one of mainland Australia’s highest altitude vineyards.

This fruit exhibits the classic Pinot Gris aromas and flavours of rose petal, blossoms and fragrant spices,

combined with a fresh, restrained acidity. The high altitudes and moderately cool summers of King Valley are ideal for the production of high quality aromatic varieties.

Winery Tasting Notes

Pale straw in colour with green tints. There are delicious aromas of alpine strawberry, Granny Smith apple, peppercorn, notes of buttered toast, preserved lemon and the subtle hints of rose water. Elegantly structured, this wine shows outstanding Pinot Gris precision with delicate flavours of white pear, preserved lemon and spice. The layered creamy texture is balanced by an underlying core of chalky minerality and persistent fruit flavour.

Enjoy now for a crisper style or wait a couple of years if you like Pinot Gris with more fresh and richness. Serve with chicken salad with white nectarine, crisp croutons, grilled prosciutto and a balsamic glaze or a dessert of baked cheesecake, poached quinces and a generous dollop of King Island cream.

Winery Profile

Redbank Winery was established by Neill & Sally Robb in the Pyrenees region of Central Victoria in 1973.

It is distinctly Australian and is named after the small town of Redbank situated three kilometers to the north. It is located 2 hours north-west of Melbourne in the heart of the Pyrenees range.

Redbank Winery has established a reputation for producing wines of excellent quality, consistency and value. The winery is 18kms north of Avoca on the Sunraysia Highway.

Neill & Sally planted their first vines in 1973; which consisted of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Malbec varieties. Today there are 18 hectares (45 acres) under vine, which produce exceptional quality grapes. The original vineyard of Sally’s Paddock, named after Neill’s wife Sally, is still a non-irrigated single vineyard that continues to deliver a wine of wonderful complexity and depth.

In 1975, using local century old hand made red bricks, Neill built our steep-gabled winery, known as Redbank Winery. This today provides a fabulous ambiance to taste the wines and also enjoy the delicious hand made dishes, at the Flying Pig Deli.

After 37 years of operation, Redbank Winery continues to be wholly owned and operated by Neill & Sally Robb.

Sally’s Paddock is proudly listed as ‘Distinguished’ on the Langton’s Classification of Distinguished Australian Wine. The Sally’s Paddock has been listed in their catalogue since it’s inception. Langton’s Classification is now a cornerstone of the ultra-fine Australian wine market. It is based on the actual buying patterns of their clients (over 6000 active members). Thus it transcends personal agendas, pompous glorifications and endless accolades.
